Is it Time to Reface Your Kitchen?

Sometimes you don’t just want re-invent your kitchen, you just need a change. A customer of ours in Springfield, VA. had that same thought. Their old cabinets were made of white Rigid Thermal Foil (RTF). The doors were coming apart and de-laminating – and they were looking aged. This is a common occurrence when cabinets are made of RTF. RTF is a Vinyl applied with glue and heat — the glue is sometimes ‘attacked’ by everyday kitchen use from steam, heat, UV light, and eventually turns yellow and splits. They were put in by the builder because they were cheap. They weren’t meant to last.

Luckily, our designers were able to inspect the client’s current state of disrepair and recommend a few changes. We installed new solid-wood cabinet doors made of Birch with a Harvest Stain. We also added ends to the peninsula and ends to the base cabinets. We converted one drawer layout to a three-drawer layout. One of the changes Kitchen Magic Refacers, Inc. makes in all of the kitchens is to remove the wood between the sink base cabinet doors and butt the doors. Husbands no longer have to hug that stupid piece of wood when accessing a shut-off valve, faucet, or garbage disposal. Small changes make big differences.

You can see the difference that a simple color change can make and how the use of solid-wood cabinets can transform a kitchen and make it last for years to come.
